BACKYARD-RC PART 3 NEW JEEP BODY

Finally got to take the new 4 door Jeep Wrangler body from Proline out for a test run. It is made for the longer Honcho wheel base instead I fit it on my Dingo kit. It does rub a little with the GoPro mounted on top of it(also new addition) when I turn and the suspension is compressed but its nothing too bad. 

The other new thing as mentioned is the GoPro Hero HD which I mounted on the top of the jeep body with the sticky mount that comes with the camera. Also worked pretty much as planned, made it a little top heavy and it would help a lot if i could tell where I'm aiming so I'm not focusing on whats at the bottom of the screen in front of me, if you watch the video from Nezteek on Youtube you will know what I mean, its filmed from my rig looking at his and its focusing on the my roof, but it still did ok. Overall I would recommend it to anyone.

Took the SCX10s out and shot some video for the first time in a while. hard to get out since it's either too cold, or by the time I get home from work its pretty much dark. But since the days are getting longer and the temp has been in the mid 60s its perfect for getting into the backyard and doing some scaling and trying out new obstacles on our home-made coarse. Still have a lot to do but its coming along. Here are a few pics and if you haven't seen the video yet be sure to check it out!

BACKYARD-RC Axial SCX10 Dingo Review.

SCX10 Dingo Review.

Hey guys, Cory here with a review of my Axial SCX10 Dingo. If you have seen the video this is pretty much just a re-run of that, if you haven't, I'll put a link at the bottom for ya and that will save you some reading. If you prefer to read and don't mind my not so great grammar that's fine as well. Lets get started!

So the SCX10 is my first scale crawler, when I was looking to buy it I looked a few others like the cc01, the Tundra high-lift and while they seem like ok rigs I wasn't terribly impressed with them. The cc01 didn't look nearly as capable as what I think a scale crawler should be, and the Tundra while in my opinion is one of the most scale looking trucks out there, again from what I saw on Youtube it just wasn't very impressive in the performance department out of the box. I did find another Youtuber that goes by the name of djmedic2008, he has a channel dedicated to RC, RC SPARKS, and his scale truck of choice is the SCX10 which even in the stock out of the box form preforms very well. Not to mention there are countless upgrades for them to make it completely your own rig.

One thing I'm very impressed with is the amount of out of the box tune-ability. the shocks are adjustable as far as up and down, and side to side on the chassis, the kit also comes with the aluminum  lower links as well as the plastic ones. It give you 2 options for the battery mounting tray, in the back or up front to help keep the front tires planted on the ground and this may seem like it would make the truck top heavy but it does surprisingly well as staying right side up while crawler, now a lift and bigger tires will raise the center of gravity a bit which will make it easier to roll over.

The stock chassis fits a 540 and 550 motor, I went with the RC4wd 35t 540 motor, it is slower but this rig is meant to crawl and I do plan on putting bigger tires on so the extra torque will help. Decided to go with the Traxxas 2075 waterproof speed control, has around 125oz of torque and so far as been just fine. A lot of people say they don't like them because they have plastic gears. I agree that metal would be nice but again, these rigs are meant to go slow. and at $20 a pop on ebay I can't really complain. Running the Traxxas XL5 waterproof ESC(speed control) this does give me the option of running lipo batteries but i choose to run a 6-cell 3000MAH Venom battery as they are waterproof, cheap, and come with all the connecters for any type of plug.

One bad thing I have noticed about the SCX10 out of the box, and others have had this problem too. The shocks start to leak very quickly, some people have had them leak as soon as they opened the RTR version. I will be doing a Video on how to fix this and of coarse putting a "How-to" on here so you can print it off and use it while you work. 

Overall I am very satisfied with how this thing preforms and looks, Axial did an awesome job of giving you a rig that if left stock can still be a ton of fun but also a rig that if you want to put the money into it can be something that will crawl over just about anything. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get into the hobby of RC or someone that has been doing it for years and is looking for a new project.
